Murals, Installations and Interiors in Bridgeland, Calgary

Site-specific artwork for the restaurants, cafes and new residential buildings of Bridgeland, including our interior mural for UNA Pizza + Wine.

Bridgeland sits just northeast of downtown, with a main street of restaurants and cafes along 1st Avenue NE and a steady run of new mixed-use buildings. KINN Studios is an artist-led experiential design studio based in Calgary, and we design murals, installations, activations and interiors for the businesses and property owners of Bridgeland.

Our built work here is Uprooted, a 2021 interior mural for UNA Pizza + Wine. The piece wraps roughly 8.5 metres of the dining room and merges portraiture with alpine landscapes to explore migration and belonging. It was designed for that room, its lighting and its sightlines, and it is a good example of how a narrative mural can shape the atmosphere of a restaurant.

Bridgeland has an active BIA, a strong independent food scene and developers adding ground-floor retail. Each of those brings a different kind of brief, and we have experience with all three.

Working with businesses, BIAs and developers in Bridgeland

Bridgeland briefs usually come from a restaurant or cafe owner, a developer with a new ground floor to animate, or the Bridgeland BIA. Restaurant projects tend to move quickly once the concept is approved. Developer projects often begin earlier, while the building is still in design, which lets us plan artwork into the architecture rather than after it.

Exterior murals visible from public space in Calgary may require a development permit under the Land Use Bylaw. Interior murals typically do not. We research what applies to each building and prepare the application for the owner.

Budgets range from a single interior feature wall to a full podium mural or lobby installation. We give a range at the first conversation and a fixed proposal after the site visit.

If you would like a sense of the numbers before we talk, our mural pricing guide and interior design cost guide are a good starting point. To see the full range of what we do, visit Services or read about the studio.

FAQ

Questions about working in Bridgeland

Do you work in Bridgeland?

Yes. We painted Uprooted at UNA Pizza + Wine in Bridgeland in 2021, and our studio is in Calgary, a short drive away. Site visits, mockups and installation are all done in person.

How far in advance should we book a Bridgeland mural?

Interior murals usually need four to eight weeks from approval to completion. Exterior murals should be planned over the winter for painting between May and October. Developer projects benefit from starting while the building is still in design.

Do you handle permits in Bridgeland?

Yes. We research whether a development permit applies, prepare the drawings and submit on behalf of the property owner. Interior murals in Calgary typically do not require a permit.
