Site-specific artwork and designed spaces for Lethbridge, from a Calgary studio about two hours north.
Lethbridge is the largest city in southern Alberta, with a compact downtown, a university and college, and a municipal public art program, Public Art Lethbridge, that commissions work for city sites. The Downtown Lethbridge BRZ supports the core, and Park Place is the main enclosed retail centre. KINN Studios is an artist-led experiential design studio based in Calgary, about two hours north by road, and we design murals, installations, activations and interiors for Lethbridge businesses, property owners and public spaces.
Our public art, restaurant and retail work in Calgary and Airdrie shows how we approach a brief, and we bring the same process south: site first, then concept, then a fixed proposal.
For Lethbridge projects we plan site visits, mockups and installation into a small number of trips, and we state travel costs clearly.
Interior murals for restaurants, cafes, clinics and retail, and exterior murals for downtown side walls and commercial buildings, designed for the wind and sun of southern Alberta.
Responses to Public Art Lethbridge calls and developer commissions, from concept through fabrication drawings and installation, with community engagement where the brief asks for it.
Temporary builds for Park Place, downtown events and festival periods, designed for transport from Calgary and clean installation and removal.
Artist-led interior design for restaurants, salons, med spas and retail, with concept renderings, material selection and remote coordination through buildout.
Set design and spatial planning for launches, galas and private events in Lethbridge venues.
Lethbridge briefs usually come from a business owner with a wall or new space, the Downtown Lethbridge BRZ planning streetscape work, a retail centre marketing team, or the City through Public Art Lethbridge. Commercial projects move at the client’s pace. Public art calls follow the published timeline and criteria.
Exterior murals in Lethbridge may need a development permit depending on zoning and whether the work is treated as a sign under the City of Lethbridge Land Use Bylaw. Interior murals typically do not need a permit. We check what applies and prepare the application with the property owner.
For budgets, we add travel and, for multi-day painting, accommodation, and we state both separately so a Lethbridge client can compare our proposal fairly with a local one.
If you would like a sense of the numbers before we talk, our mural pricing guide and interior design cost guide are a good starting point. To see the full range of what we do, visit Services or read about the studio.

Interior murals usually need six to ten weeks from approval to completion once travel is planned. Exterior murals should be booked over the winter for painting between May and September. Public Art Lethbridge calls follow the timeline the City publishes.
Yes. We research whether a development permit or sign permit applies under the City of Lethbridge Land Use Bylaw, prepare the drawings and submit with the property owner. Interior murals typically do not require a permit.
