Site-specific murals and artist-led interiors for one of the fastest-growing cities in Alberta, including our two retail projects on Main Street and in Bayside.
Airdrie is one of the fastest-growing cities in Alberta, and its new commercial buildings, main street and community facilities are adding walls and spaces every year. KINN Studios is an artist-led experiential design studio based in NE Calgary, about thirty minutes from Airdrie, and we have built two projects here.
Elevated, completed in 2025 for Bud Mart on Main Street, pairs a mural of lotus blossoms and cannabis leaves on a flowing blue backdrop with limewash-textured walls, so the artwork and the interior read as one space. Rainbow Doobies, from 2020 at Bud Mart Bayside, is a pop-art pattern mural that gives a compact retail floor a bold backdrop.
Airdrie runs a national public art competition and has an active arts community through the Airdrie Arts and Culture Council. Together with the pace of commercial development, that makes it a place where we expect to keep building.

Airdrie briefs usually come from a business owner opening or refreshing a space, a developer with a new commercial building, or the City through its public art competition. Many Airdrie businesses are part of a small group with more than one location, and we have designed across multiple locations for the same brand.
Exterior murals in Airdrie may need a development permit depending on zoning and whether the work is treated as a sign under the City of Airdrie Land Use Bylaw. Interior murals typically do not need a permit. We check what applies and prepare the application with the property owner.
Because Airdrie is close, travel is not a meaningful cost. Budgets range from a single interior mural to a full retail interior with custom finishes, and we give a range at the first conversation and a fixed proposal after the site visit.

Yes. We have completed two retail murals in Airdrie, Elevated on Main Street in 2025 and Rainbow Doobies in Bayside in 2020. Our studio in NE Calgary is about thirty minutes away, so site visits and installation are simple.
Interior murals usually need four to eight weeks from approval to completion. Interior design projects run eight to sixteen weeks from concept to buildout. Exterior murals should be planned over the winter for painting between May and October.
Yes. We research whether a development permit or sign permit applies under the City of Airdrie Land Use Bylaw, prepare the drawings and submit with the property owner. Interior murals typically do not require a permit.
